A McFarland Police Officer is expected to be OK after he was stabbed responding to a domestic dispute Thursday afternoon.

According to McFarland Police chief Scot Kimble the officer was responding to a family dispute between a mother and her son on Melgar Avenue near Beryl Avenue just after 12:30 p.m. While the officers were talking to those involved, the son tried to assault the officer, stabbing him in the cheek.

The son then went back into the home before finally surrendering and giving up on his own a short time later.

Kimble says the officer is expected to be OK.
