On Thursday, the McFarland City Council confirmed that the Interim Police Chief Janet Davis is also stepping in as the city's interim manager in lieu of John Wooner's disappearance.

The city has been forced to move forward with temporarily filling the position after City Manager John Wooner went missing nine days ago.

Three days after the 57-year-old's disappearance Mayor Manuel Cantu of McFarland said although his disappearance is out of character and hard on Wooner's family and the community, officials have to keep the city running appropriately no matter what. City council and committee members also said they'll eventually decide on a permanent candidate.

Wooner was last seen on Tuesday May 14 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bakersfield around 5:30 p.m.

He is described as 6 feet tall and 300 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a white dress shirt and khaki pants.

If you have information on Wooner's whereabouts you're encouraged to call BPD at 327-7111.
