McKinley Elementary and Emerson Middle school were on temporary lockdown after reports of shots fired in the area.
The Bakersfield City School District confirms a lockdown was placed on both schools at 12:48 pm and lifted at 12:53 pm.
The schools were locked down as a precaution.
This follows a deadly shooting within the area less than one week ago.
