KERN COUNTY, Calif. — The Kern County Department of Airports is presenting new information derived from its statistics for Meadows Field Airport outbound passengers from July 2020 through October 2020.

Airports Director Mark Witsoe states, “Our recent data shows that local passengers have returned to flying from Meadows Field Airport. It is a good choice and we have a great partnership with American Airlines and United Airlines.” Witsoe adds, “However, their ability to continue to serve Bakersfield and Kern County with this essential service requires the continued support of local, state, and federal governments until the COVID crisis is contained. I strongly encourage additional federal relief as soon as possible.”

The Department is responsible for the operations and development of six airports across the County including:

  • Meadows Field Airport (BFL)
  • Kern Valley Airport (L05)
  • Kern County-Taft Airport (L17)
  • Kern County-Wasco Airport (L19)
  • Kern County-Buttonwillow-Elk Hills Airport (L62)
  • Kern County-Poso Airport (L73).
