The Bakersfield bicycling community came together for a memorial ride honoring a local man who was killed in a traffic accident while riding in Chicago.
Blaine Klingenberg, known as Beezy to his friends, was working as a bicycle messenger in Chicago when he was hit by a double-decker bus last month.
Dozens of people turned out to beach park Sunday morning for the memorial ride, sharing stories of Klingenberg.
His father tells 23ABC that his son was known for his positive outlook and love of bike riding.
He described his son as an all or nothing kind of man.
"He was a free spirit, loved life, loved people, loved family and everything he did was to enjoy life," said Walter Klingenberg, "I know I'm more cognizant toward yellow lights now myself, I might have sped up before but now im hitting my brakes
A memorial ride was also held in Chicago over 4th of July weekend with more than 100 people in attendance.
