A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday to honor the San Diego firefighter who lost his life battling the Thomas Fire flames in Ventura County.

The memorial ceremony will take place on Dec. 23 at 10 a.m. inside of the Rock Church, located at 2277 Rosecrans Street, San Diego.
According to the coroner, the eight-year Cal Fire veteran passed away due to "thermal injuries and smoke inhalation" while fighting flames near Filmore.
