BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — CSU Bakersfield has scheduled a memorial service for one of their students that was killed near Bakersfield College.
Eighteen-year-old Jason Quinn Kelly was hit by a truck near Bakersfield College around 8:50 p.m. on April 2. BPD says Kelly died at the scene from his injuries.
In a letter to students, faculty, and staff, CSU Bakersfied President Lynette Zelezny says Kelly's memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at 12:30 p.m. in Alumni Park. Zelezny says service will provide an opportunity for the campus community to come together and celebrate his life.
Zelezny says the service will include printed pictures of Kelly and his favorite yellow rose bouquets.
In his honor, the CSU Bakersfield flag will fly at half-staff on the day of the service.
