Merle Haggard and Buck Owens honored at CMA Awards

Posted

Stars filled Nashville's Bridgestone Arena Wednesday night for country's music biggest night.

The CMA awards celebrated their 50th anniversary. The party paid tribute to country legends including local favorites in Kern County.

Grammy winner Vince Gill opened up the CMA's with a tribute to Oildale native Merle Haggard. He performed "Mama Tried" with Haggard's son Ben Haggard.

Then, Roy Clark and Brad Paisely sung Buck Owens "I've Got A Tiger by the Tail."

If you remember, Roy and Buck were on "Hee Haw" together back in the 1970's.

Plus, Paisley and Buck were friends and they used to play at Crystal Palace.

The Buck Owens and Merle Haggard tributes were a part of bigger tribute to country legends at the CMA awards.
