Friday night, 19-year-old Minuet Comstock surprised her family when she came home for Thanksgiving.

She is a jet mechanic in the Air Force and has been stationed in Japan for a year.

Her family gathered at a Bakersfield restaurant Friday night to celebrate grandma's birthday and had no idea Minuet would later be joining them.

Her dad Steve was in on the surprise, but her mother Laura, and the rest of the family had no idea.

"I keep on telling them that I’m back there and that like im having a Thanksgiving party with all my friends,” said Minuet. "I'm nervous. I'm just waiting to see them. I hope that they are surprised."

Minuet said this Thanksgiving will be extra special.

“I didn’t get to spend Thanksgiving with them last year. Being away, its kind of sad because you don’t have family there," she said. "I mean you have friends but you appreciate it a lot more, where you might not have before.”
