More details released on FL homicide suspects

Taylor County Florida Sheriff officials have released more details on the two homicide suspects who were arrested in Bakersfield on Thursday afternoon.

Officials said 20-year-old Douglas Mihal of Ohio, and his 17- year-old girlfriend were charged with first degree homicide and grand theft auto in connection with the murder of a missing Florida man. 

According to Florida officials, Aaron Michael Tappe had been missing since late January.

Florida deputies recovered Tappe's body last week in Steinhatchee, Florida, south of Tallahassee. 

Mihal and his girlfriend fled the state of Florida after the murder happened.

Recently, investigators developed a lead that the couple had traveled to Bakersfield.

U.S. Marshals, along with Kern County Sheriff's Office and CHP arrested the couple on the 900 block of Sterling Rd. 

Mihal and his girlfriend are currently in the Kern County Jail and juvenile hall awaiting extradition back to Florida.
