BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — More than $10,000 has been raised to help young local burn survivors go to a special week-long summer camp.
The money was raised at the Bakersfield Firefighter's Burn Foundation's 10th annual "Send a Kid to Camp" fundraiser held at the Outback Steakhouse on Stockdale Highway Friday.
City Fire Captain Chris Bowles told 23ABC News the fundraiser brought in $11,000 and counting.
The money will be used to send local burn survivors (ages 5- to 16-years-old) on a week-long residential summer camp. The camp provides fun games, activities and enables peer interaction, an important aspect of burn recovery.
