BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Mosquitos are showing up in steady numbers according to the Kern Mosquito and Vector Control District.
Officials held a press conference Tuesday morning discussing awareness and prevention. This all comes after last year's high snow pact brought lots of flooding and ultimately an excessive amount of mosquitos to Kern County.
Last summer, 28 people were infected with West Nile Virus in Kern County, a number they hope to prevent this year.
And in case you're wondering officials said according to their most recent research COVID-19 cannot be transmitted through mosquito bites.
