Motorcyclist dies after crashing into car

A motorcyclist has died following a crash with a Ford Focus.

At about 11:30 p.m. Monday, police said a motorcyclist collided with the car at the intersection of Union Avenue and and Thelma Drive.

The investigation revealed the driver of the car was making a southbound turn onto Union Ave. from Thelma Dr. and turned directly into the path of a motorcyclist traveling northbound on Union Avenue, officers said.

The motorcyclist sustained major injuries as a result of the collision, and was taken to Kern Medical. 

The adult male driver of the Ford Focus sustained minor injuries and was transported to San Joaquin 

Hospital for treatment. 

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision. 

The motorcyclist died at about 11:20 a.m. Tuesday as a result of his injuries.
