Movies in the Park series taking place around Bakersfield

It's become an annual tradition in the city of Bakersfield once school is out for the summer - Movies in the Park.

The annual series hosted by the city of Bakersfield kicks off Friday at the Spectrum Amphitheatre at the Park at Riverwalk with "The LEGO Ninjago Movie" set to play beginning at dusk. 

This year, the Movies in the Park series runs through the end of July, with films being screened at various parks around Bakersfield.

All movies are free to attend. 

The following is a list of the movies and the parks in which they'll be screened:

  • Friday - "The LEGO Ninjago Movie," Spectrum Amphitheatre at The Park at River Walk
  • June 15 - "LEGO DC Super Heroes: The Flash," Lowell Park
  • June 22 - "Peter Rabbit," Greystone Park
  • June 29 - "Ferdinand," Siemon Park
  • July 6 - "Despicable Me 3," Central Park
  • July 13 - "Paddington 2," Silver Creek Park
  • July 20 - "Cars 3," Stonecreek Park
  • July 27 - "Coco," Spectrum Amphitheatre at The Park at River Walk
