Over the past two weeks, at least four suspicious events have taken place in the unincorporated Bakersfield area in which numerous children were encouraged to get into an unknown subject’s vehicle or a subject attempted to abduct the child. Two of the incidents occurred in Oildale and two occurred in East Bakersfield.

The first incident took place on May 26th in the area of Park Drive and Pioneer Drive around 3:00 PM. It was reported that a white sedan being driven by a medium build white male, 30-35 years old with a beard and blue eyes in a black hooded sweatshirt attempted to abduct a 10 year old child. The license plate on the suspect’s vehicle was from California and began with 7RAP. The child was eventually able to flee and was unharmed.

The second incident took place on June 7th in the area near North High School around 12:55 PM. It was reported that a full pickup truck being driven by an average build Hispanic male in his 30’s with short black hair and a mustache attempted to abduct a 17 year old child. The vehicle was described as a possible 2000’s model full size pickup which was spray painted red and had a white hood. There was no rear license plate on the pickup and the front license plate was positioned in the front windshield. The pickup also had the front windows tinted.  The child was able to flee unharmed.

The third incident took place on June 8th in the area of Breckenridge Road and Royal Way at about 12:25 PM. It was reported that a light blue sedan, possibly a Honda, being driven by a white male attempted to get an 11 year old child to enter his vehicle by stating the child’s mother had sent him. The child fled unharmed.

The fourth incident took place on June 9th in the area of North Chester Avenue and Warren Avenue at about 6:50 AM. It was reported that an older model grey Honda four door vehicle being driven by a tall, skinny white male in his early 20’s attempted to get a 14 year child to enter his vehicle. The child fled unharmed.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incidents and encourages anyone with information to contact the Kern County Communications Center at (661)861-3110.
