TAFT, Calif. — Multiple residents have been displaced following a fire at Woodrow Street Apartments in Taft on Monday.
The Kern County Fire Department said crews responded to the fire at around 11:02 a.m..
"Due to the multiple calls received and potential for life hazard extra firefighters and equipment, known as a reinforced alarm as well as ambulance were dispatched," KCFD said in a news release.
When firefighters arrived they found the apartment complex, located Woodrow Street with smoke and flames coming from one unit. Crewes were able to keep the fire from spreading past the one unit.
One resident reportedly had complaints symptomatic of smoke inhalation but chose not to receive medical treatment.
KCFD said the American Red Cross is assisting multiple occupants who were displaced as a result of the fire.
