BAKERSFIELD, Calif — The NAACP in Bakersfield is making sure that families in need can get a Thanksgiving turkey this year.

The organization is holding a 5k Turkey run/walk. In order to enter your being asked to donate a turkey.

The turkeys are due by November 20 and can be dropped off at 1010 Shalimar Dr. in Bakersfield. The run will take place on November 21 at the Park at Riverwalk. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

The organization says that they are trying to raise 50 turkeys and the first 50 people to donate will receive a medal.
