National Night Out events to be held around Kern County

National Night Out events are happening all around Kern County Tuesday August 7, marking the 35th year events have been held around the country. 

These events are meant to connect law enforcement to the community and send a message that they are committed to fighting crime in all neighborhoods. 

Groups holding events include: 

  • Bakersfield Police Department: Rabobank Convention Center from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. 
  • Kern County Sheriff's Office: Sheriff's Headquarters at 1350 Norris Road from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Delano Police Department: Cesar Chavez Park 
  • Emmanuel Luther Church: 1900 Baker Street in East Bakersfield from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Tehachapi Police Department: Philip Marx Central Park from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 
  • Arvin Police Department: 200 Campus Drive in Arvin from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. 
  • McFarland Police Department: In front of City Hall and the Police Department Complex at 401 W. Kern Ave. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Most events include free activities and food for families that attend. There will also be several demonstrations by various agencies including SWAT teams, and police officers.
