National Weather Service issues tornado, thunderstorm warnings amid severe weather

Severe weather brought a number of warnings to Kern County Tuesday.

The National Weather Service issue both tornado and thunderstorm warnings during the evening hours, affecting several areas of the county.

A warning that came just after 6 p.m. stated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado is located 11 miles NW of California City moving north at 20 mph. This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of the desert.

Earlier the National Weather Service issues tornado warning through 6:15 p.m. for Kern County desert areas including California City, Mojave, North Edwards, North of Edwards Air Force Base.
