Unmanned Navy ship makes debut

Posted
The pentagon just unveiled a 132-foot ship that is able to travel up to 10,000 nautical miles all on it's own.

The ship will be the world's largest unmanned surface vessel and will be able to hunt for stealthy submarines and underwater mines.

Jared Adams, with the Defense Advanced Research Agency, said "we want to make sure we have unmanned vessels like this to supplement the human mission so that we're not putting people unduly in harm's way."

Military officials and the Navy will be testing the ship off the San Diego coast over the next two years, to see how it avoids collisions and interacts with other vessels.
