BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A billboard in northwest Bakersfield is honoring NBA legend Kobe Bryant. His image, along with the word "legend" is displayed in traditional Lakers colors on the billboard off Rosedale Highway and Landco Drive.

Underneath, his year of birth '1978' is displayed, followed by '2020,' the year he was killed in a helicopter crash, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven others in Calabasas Sunday morning.

The Lamar Advertising Company is responsible for the billboard. They hired an artist from Baton Rouge, LA do the design. It is up on 950 billboards nationwide.

Many in the Bakersfield community have mourned his loss. Some have hosted candlelit vigils, held moments of silence and one individual even got both of Kobe's jersey numbers tattooed on their arm.

The billboard with Bryant's image is one of the latest displays of commemoration for the Laker great.
