Nearly 40 people arrested in Bakersfield and county on Christmas

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — There was more than one Grinch trying to steal Christmas, according to officials.

Nearly 40 people were arrested in Bakersfield and around the county on Christmas day, according to the Bakersfield Police Department and Kern County Sheriff's Office booking logs.

BPD units arrested 13 people between midnight and 10:47 p.m. on Christmas day, while KCSO deputies took 26 individuals into custody, records show.

Various offenses including carjacking, felony battery and unlawful use of teargas was among the listed crimes in the booking logs.

Over 50 people were arrested in Bakersfield on Christmas Eve.
