New federal regulations on e-cigarettes, or vapes, went into effect Monday.

The Food and Drug Administration is now requiring greater scrutiny of the products.

E-cigs cannot legally be sold to anyone younger than 18 and shops are no longer allowed to give out free samples.

Before these regulations, no federal laws prohibited the sale of e-cigs, hookah tobacco or cigars to minors.
