ARVIN, Calif. — On Thursday, a park in Arvin unveiled its latest trail that offers a free interactive experience and book for children.

Smothermon Park is now home to a new interactive learning trail, made possible by a donation from Aera Energy and its partnership with United Way of Kern County.

The trail provides interactive learning activities specifically for young children age five or younger and their parents or caregivers. There are 10 signs on the born learning trail providing information about several child-led activities such as hopscotch, and games that encourage the identification of shapes, letters and colors.

More than 750 born learning trails have been installed at parks, schools and in communities throughout the United States. In Kern County, this is the ninth trail installed.
