Kern High School District has reportedly purchased property in Southeast Bakersfield to build a new school. According to the District, the school is currently in the design phase with an anticipated opening of August 2022.

An addition potential school site was purchased near the intersection of Wible Road and Houghton Road according to KHSD, however there is no projected opening date as of yet.

A KHSD meeting was held last night and the board approved the suitability for the two future sites, which according to KHSD means that the sites are safe locations for students.
