BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — It was a somewhat quiet New Year's for the California Highway Patrol as they reported traffic fatalities during the holiday.

The Bakersfield CHP conducted a "maximum enforcement period" from Friday through Sunday. During that time, they arrested nine people for DUI.

This holiday enforcement effort is designed to keep drivers safe as more people hit the road to celebrate with their loved ones.
