Nonprofit Bike Bakersfield suffers second break-in this month

Posted

Local nonprofit Bike Bakersfield suffered another break-in on Sunday, their second this month.

According to staff member Natalie Barrett, the glass door of their downtown Bakersfield location was smashed in on Sunday night. Barrett credits Bakersfield police with a quick response to prevent anything from being stolen.

Bike Arvin was broken into on May 3, when a thief stole nearly all of their scooters. Police are still searching for suspects.

"It is unfortunate that the work to provide access to free or low cost equipment for healthy youth activities is derailed," Executive Director Jack Becker said in a statement.

Bike Bakersfield wil be open on Monday despite the break-in.
