Off-Highway Vehicle areas around the eastern part of Kern County have been closed off to riders and for camping.

The city of California City announced temporary OHV closures for riding and camping areas went into effect Thursday.

In a Facebook post, the California City Fire Department said the closures are in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention along with Governor Gavin Newsom's stay-at-home order.

The Bureau of Land Management has closed off the Jawbone Canyon and Dove Springs OHV areas. Red Rock State Park is also closed for vehicle and camping access. Road access to Hagen Canyon and Red Cliffs has been shut down.
