Officer injured after driver runs red light and hits BPD patrol vehicle

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A Bakersfield Police officer was injured after a vehicle ran a red light and hit the passenger side of the officer's patrol vehicle inside an intersection in Oildale.

According to BPD, witnesses on scene said the officer legally entered the intersection of Airport Drive and State Road. The driver of the other vehicle reportedly ran a red light and crashed into the officer's patrol vehicle on the passenger side. The officer was taken to the hodpital with minor to moderate injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol played a part in this crash.
