BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A 22-year-old man, who officials say is known gang member, was arrested Sunday morning in Northeast Bakersfield for attempted murder and weapons charges, the Kern County Sheriff's Office confirms.
According to KCSO, Andrew Torrez assaulted two people at a residence, pistol-whipping one of them near Arlington and Height streets at about 6:10 a.m.
As the victims were fleeing in their vehicle, Torrez allegedly started shooting at them, grazing one of them with a bullet, according to KCSO.
Shortly after, both victims would arrive at a local hospital in stable condition.
Deputies searched the residence Torrez was at and located multiple firearms, high capacity magazines, ammunition and more than 1 pound of heroin at the residence.
Torrez was arrested for multiple felonies, including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and other weapon and drug charges.
