Californians meeting water saving targets

Posted

As the state continues to deal with an ongoing drought, officials say Californians are doing their part when it comes to saving water.

On Thursday, the State Water Resources Board is scheduled to announce water conservation numbers for the month of August. Officials say Californians met Governor Jerry Brown's mandatory 25-percent water savings goal for the month.

Though specifics were not given, officials say figures will show residents continued to cut back water use, meeting the governor's goal for a third straight month.

The state reported there was a 27 percent cut in water use statewide in June then that number was at 31 percent for July.
