BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — One man was shot and another was "pistol-whipped inside a room at the Hart Hotel Sunday evening, the Bakersfield Police Department confirms.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting inside the hotel at about 4:15 p.m. and located an unconscious man, who BPD says was hit across the head with a gun.

Another man, who police say intervened in the altercation, was shot in the elbow.

Both victims sustained moderate injuries and are expected to survive, according to BPD.

A suspect fled the scene, but has since been arrested.
