BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — School officials say they are investigating the theft that occurred during a football game at Ridgeview High School Friday night, following the arrest of three juveniles in possession of stolen property.

The theft occurred while the Bakersfield Christian High School varsity football team was on the field at Ridgeview, according to the Kern High School District.

The Bakersfield Police Department says three juveniles were in possession of stolen property from Ridgeview High School, including a truck, which they crashed into a tree a few miles away from the school.

Officials have not confirmed if the juveniles were students at either high school.

BCHS officials say multiple individuals on the BCHS football team had their personal belongings stolen during the game.

In a statement provided to 23ABC News, BCHS says they "do not see the actions that were taken that evening to be representative of the Ridgeview community as a whole, but rather the result of the unfortunate activity of a very few individuals."

"We are now working with Ridgeview and local authorities to work through this unfortunate situation," the BCHS statement read.
