The Kern County Sheriff's Office said human remains found in Rosamond this week are related to a murder in 2015.
On April 23, deputies found human remains at an abandoned property in the 8700 block of Joshua Lane.
Back in 2007, Michelle Chafin was reported missing from the Bakersfield area and has not been found since. KCSO detectives said information was received that Chafin was a possible homicide victim and was buried on the property.
The human remains found on the property are not related to Chafin but instead related to the 2015 murder of Juan Carlos Perez, KCSO said.
No additional remains were found on a dig operation on April 24.
Chafin is still considered missing. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (661) 861-3110.
