Officials investigating a road rage shooting on Highway 58

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that occurred along Highway 58 Monday evening, near Tehachapi Willow Springs Road.

According to KCSO, two vehicles were involved in a road rage incident at about 4:23 p.m., when a male driver pointed a gun at the other vehicle and opened fire.

KCSO confirmed at least one bullet struck the victim's vehicle, which had a man and woman inside. Neither were injured.

Shortly ater, deputies located the suspect, 39-year-old Eddy Jerrelle Perez, at a Chevron gas station near General Beale Road.

KCSO said Perez is from San Pablo and told authorities he was returning from Las Vegas and was passing through town.

A woman and 14-year-old boy was with Perez, during the time of the shooting, according to KCSO.

Perez was booked for shooting at an occupied vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm with the serial number removed, and felony child endangerment.
