BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Officials detained a man riding a bicycle around with a shotgun hanging out of his pants in North Bakersfield Saturday evening.

A Kern County Sheriff's Office deputy pulled the man over around 4:45 p.m. near Beardsley and Plymouth avenues when he noticed the man had a shotgun.

KCSO officials said they detained the man and are investigating whether the weapon was stolen.

Authorities confirmed the heavy police activity in that area was not a result of a shooting.
