Officials investigating threat that prompted California City Correctional Facility to go on lockdown

CALIFORNIA CITY, Calif. — On Tuesday morning around 9:30 a.m., California City Correctional Facility officials said they initiated a lockdown after receiving a threat to institutional security.

Officials confirmed that the California City Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Kern County Sheriff’s Department and the crisis response team from California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi responded to the incident.

Although the California City Correctional Facility said that operations have resumed the incident is still under investigation.
