Oil spill in northwest Bakersfield due to farming equipment hitting oil injection well

On July 29, at 7:00am, Kern County Fire hazmat was called to 7th Standard Road and Zerker Road.

The arriving crew found gallons of oil and water, mostly water, on the ground. A farm equipment delivery truck had ran into and sheered a nearby oil injection well, but oil on the ground is not a health hazard at this point.

Fire crews have left the scene and there is now a truck sucking up the water.

If you see crews working in the area, please avoid bottling up traffic.
