BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Omni Family Health received approximately 2,000 doses for healthcare frontline workers.

The vaccine is not mandatory and everyone who got vaccinated today wanted to.

The Omni Health Associate Medical Director says the vaccine is important and exciting.

"We're really really excited about that. This has been a hard year and a long time coming. This is helping us feel a lot of hope as we go into a new year so we are just really excited to get the vaccine," said Grace Tidwell, associate medical director.

She said that this is an important vaccine and is game changer in the pandemic, and that it is safe and effective based on all the research that has been done so far.

The next phase of the vaccine roll out will be given to seniors who are older than 65.
