One dead, one injured after rollover near SR 59

One person is dead and another injured after a rollover near State Route 59 in Merced, Thursday evening.

In a press release from California Highway Patrol, it stated 48-year-old Eduardo Ruiz-Rosales was driving a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck southbound on La Grange Road, north of SR 59 when his truck rolled over injuring Ruiz-Rosales and killing a 63-year-old male passenger. The name of the passenger who died has yet to be released.

Officers stated the rollover happened around 5:00 p.m. when Ruiz-Rosales was driving through a right-hand curve when his truck drifted into oncoming traffic. He then turned his car sharply to avoid on-coming traffic resulting Ruiz-Rosales losing control of the vehicle. The truck then went off the road and started to roll over as it went down the hill sticking multiple large tree. Officers stated Ruiz-Rosales sustained a minor cut on the top of his head, while his passenger sustain a fatal injury. 

Officer stated that both men in the pickup truck were wearing their seatbelt.
