One killed, another injured in Arvin shootings

One person was killed and another was injured after two separate shootings in Arvin late Wednesday night.

Arvin Police Officers were called to the 200 block of 4th Street  just before 10:30 p.m. on a reports of shots fired, and when they arrived they found a shooting victim. The victim was taken to Kern Medical in Bakersfield with non-life threatening injuries.

Moments later, just after 11 p.m., police received another call of shots fired, this time in the 500 block of Monroe Street. An officer arrived to find Alfredo Torres, 34, had been shot and killed.

Both cases are still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Arvin PD Investigator Ryan Calderon or Sgt. Jerry Martinez at 661-854-5583.
