One person is dead after a shooting in East Bakersfield on Monday morning.
According to Bakersfield Police, an Hispanic man was found in the area of King and Lincoln suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
BPD says a witness told them they saw a large, white SUV leave the area.
No suspect information has been provided. No arrests have been made.
The Bakersfield City School District said it sent out a robocall to alert students of Jefferson Elementary School to stay home until further notice due to the school being on lockdown.
The school has since lifted its lockdown and students are allowed to return to school through a back entrance.
Psychologists are on site for children who need to talk.
