BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — One man is dead after a four-car crash in Bakersfield.

The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on December 30 on westbound SR-58 east of the SR-99 in Bakersfield. According to CHP, a 33-year-old man was driving a 2010 Ford westbound on SR-58 at an unknown rate of speed closely behind a 42-year-old male driving a 2017 Subaru. The Subaru was approximately 10 mph behind a 22-year-old female driving a 2012 Honda.

CHP says the right front of the Ford collided with the back left of the Subaru, sending the Ford from the #3 lane into the #2 lane. The Ford then collided with a 2014 Dodge, which pushed the Ford back into the #3 lane and into the back of a 2012 Honda.

As a result of the crash, the driver of the Ford sustained fatal injuries. Two passengers in the Honda were taken to Kern Medical Center with minor injuries.

The identity of the driver who died has not yet been released. However, according to CHP, the driver is from Bakersfield.

CHP says drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors. The crash is still under investigation.
