Shafter man dead following a single-vehicle crash on SB 99

A Shafter man is dead following a single-vehicle crash, after he made an unsafe turn and collided into a bridge on Southbound 99 near Perkins Avenue.

The crash happened on November 24 around 11:45 p.m. According to CHP, a 30-year-old man was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 at a high rate of speed southbound on SR-99 approaching Perkins Avenue over-crossing when, for unknown reasons, the driver made an unsafe turning movement. The Ford traveled right of the roadway and collided with a metal guardrail then continued south until colliding with a concrete bridge abundant.

The driver sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. CHP has not released his identity, however we do know that he was a 30-year-old man from Shafter. According to CHP, it is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash.
