On Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 1:15 am, the Bakersfield Police Department responded to the 7100 block of Stockdale Highway for a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. Officers arrived on scene and determined a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle traveling east on Stockdale Highway. The pedestrian succumbed to their injuries while at the scene.

The investigation revealed the pedestrian was outside of their vehicle after being involved in an injury accident. A second vehicle, not involved in the original accident, was traveling eastbound on Stockdale Highway and struck the pedestrian.

The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Myisha Phontae Smith.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes of the 7100 block of Stockdale Highway were closed but reopened at around 6 this morning.
