CHP officials said that one person is dead and another person is uninjured after a crash that occurred in Oildale on Saturday afternoon.
CHP officials received reports at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday of a 2-vehicle crash on Merle Haggard and Airport Drive.
On Sunday, CHP officials identified the driver of Jeep Grand Cherokee as 52-year-old Jeffrey Dale Sellers and they Identified the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado as 63-year-old Deborah Ann Mason.
According to the CHP, Sellers was driving his Jeep eastbound on Merle Haggard Drive at about 40-50 miles per hour. Mason was driving westbound in the number 1 lane of Haggard Dr. at around 40 mph.
According to CHP officials, a semi was unoccupied and legally parked in the area when Sellers' Jeep drifted left over the painted median and collided into the left side of Mason's Chevorlet.
Officials said that following the crash, Sellers sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mason was not injured in the crash.
CHP officials said that the case is still under investigation and they do not know at this time if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
