UPDATE (8:57 a.m.): The Kern County Sheriff Coroner's office identified the victim in Sunday night's crash as 23-year-old Gabriella Virginia of Bakersfield. 

One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash on the 99 Sunday morning.

Around 4:44 a.m., a vehicle driving southbound on the 99 went into the northbound lanes and collided with another vehicle, near 7th Standard Road, according to CHP.

One person reportedly died. All lanes were closed for over an hour, but have since been reopened.

The name of the victim has not been released at this time. No word yet on the cause of the crash.
