One person is in the hospital with major injuries after being hit by a vehicle in Downtown Bakersfield on Sunday.

The Bakersfield Police Department says a person was in a wheelchair outside of a crosswalk when they were hit by a car in the area of 19th Street and F Street just after 8 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and BPD says it does not appear that the driver is at fault. This investigation is ongoing, check back for updates.
