A man was killed after his car hit a tree branch in East Bakersfield on Friday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol the driver missed the onramp at Union Avenue on Highway 58 when his car hit a tree branch. The car roof caved in and the car went down the side of the ramp.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The CHP says the driver was driving under the influence. A loaded gun was found in the car.
