UPDATE (April 10, 2017 11:15 a.m.): The Coroner has identified the person involved as 41-year-old Jacinto Bautista of Taft. The cause and manner of death is still pending.

One person is dead and traffic is being impacted after a two-vehicle crash on Taft Highway.
The California Highway Patrol says two vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened near the intersection ofHighway 119 and Highway 43.
CHP confirmed that one person is dead; the status of the other driver is unknown, and it's unknown if there were any passengers in the vehicles.
Traffic on Highway 119 was shut down, but the eastbound lane has since reopened. Westbound lanes remain closed.
